Resume

Helen Drummond grew up in the mountain town of Asheville, North Carolina.  She began painting at age 9 but, in response to her parents, pursued music instead.  After having had a career as a music teacher, Helen realized that she needed to follow her passion; oil painting.  What started as an avocation quickly became a profession.  Landscape is her main milieu.  She has always loved nature; climbing trees, going to the mountains and to the ocean, all to satisfy her need for spiritual renewal.

The Pacific Northwest is the subject of most of her paintings.  However, she has driven across the US many times, traveled in Mexico, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, England, and Canada.  Memories of her travels often show up in a particular composition.  Trees in landscape are her specialty.  A gallery executive called Helen “The Painter of Trees”.  Fellow artists say, “Helen's trees have soul."  She lives in Shoreline, WA with her husband.

Helen is a member of Women Painters of Washington.
